Subjunctive Sentence คืออะไร?

คือ ประโยคที่บอกความต้องการ การขอร้อง และการเสนอแนะต่าง ๆ

ประโยคแบบนี้มักมี Verbs หรือ Subjunctive Verbs สำคัญ ๆ คือ
 

suggest (แนะนำ)        recommend (แนะนำ)        advise (แนะนำ)           demand (ต้องการ)              require (ต้องการ)        desire (ปรารถนา)     insist (ยืนยัน)               command (สั่ง)     request (ร้องขอ)         order (สั่ง)                             ask (ขอ)                        urge (กระตุ้น)

Subjunctive Sentence เป็นแบบไหน?

Subject¹ + Subjunctive Verb + (that) + Subject² + (should) + Infinitive

• ประโยค Subjunctive ต้องมี Subjunctive Verbs และส่วนประกอบอื่น ๆ

ตามกรอบสี่เหลี่ยมข้างบนเสมอ

• ยกเว้น! that และ should ที่จะมีหรือไม่มีก็ได้
• และที่สำคัญคือ ต้องผัน Verb หลัง Subject²  เป็น Infinitive ด้วย
   

                                           S¹       Subj V           (that)         S²    (should)         Inf

เช่น      I recommend (that) she (should) try this dish.
            (ฉันแนะนำ (ว่า) เธอ (ควร) ลองทานเมนูนี้)

ระวัง!  ไม่ว่า Subject² จะเป็นเอกพจน์หรือพหูพจน์ ยังไงก็ต้องผัน
           Verb เป็น Infinitive เสมอ ข้อนี้จึงไม่ต้องผัน try เป็น tries ตาม she
           หรือจำง่าย ๆ คือ V. ที่อยู่หลัง should ต้องเป็น Infinitive อยู่แล้วนั่นเอง

นอกจากหน้าเมื่อกี้แล้ว เรายังเจอ Subjunctive Sentence หน้าตาแบบนี้ในข้อสอบ TOEIC® ด้วย

It + V. to be + Subjunctive Adj + (that) + Subject + (should) + Infinitive

โดย Subjunctive Adjective ที่พบบ่อย คือ
 

important (สําคัญ)                       essential (จําเป็น/สําคัญ) necessary (จําเป็น/สําคัญ)           crucial (จําเป็น/สําคัญ) vital (จําเป็น/สําคัญ)                    demanded (เป็นที่ต้องการ) requested (เป็นที่ร้องขอ)             advised (เป็นที่แนะนํา) suggested (เป็นที่แนะนํา)            recommended (เป็นที่แนะนํา) advisable (สมควร)                       desirable (เป็นที่ต้องการ)

 

                                           It V. to be     Subj Adj             (that)        S        (should)      Inf

เช่น      It is recommended (that) she (should) try this dish.
            (ขอแนะนำ (ว่า) เธอ (ควร) ลองทานเมนูนี้)

Subjunctive Sentence แบบมี not

 

ถ้าอยากเปลี่ยน Subjunctive Sentence เป็นปฏิเสธ ให้เติม not เข้าไปก่อน Infinitive หรือมีหน้าตาแบบนี้

Subject¹ + Subjunctive Verb + (that) + Subject² + (should) + not + Infinitive

 

                                           S¹         Subj V           (that)        S²      (should)       not     Inf

เช่น      I recommend (that) she (should) not try this dish.
            (ฉันแนะนำ (ว่า) เธอไม่ (ควร) ลองทานเมนูนี้)

หรือ

It + V. to be + Subjunctive Adj + (that) + Subject + (should) + not + Infinitive

 

                                          It V. to be      Subj Adj             (that)         S        (should)      not    Inf

เช่น      It is recommended (that) she (should) not try this dish.
            (ขอแนะนำ (ว่า) เธอไม่ (ควร) ลองทานเมนูนี้)

เฉลยแนวข้อสอบ TOEIC®

 

1. One of the team members suggests that

            ตอบ (D) เพราะโจทย์ข้อนี้ละ should ไว้หลัง subject² (Mr. Brown) ซึ่งคำที่ต้องตามหลัง
            should ต้องเป็น Infinitive หรือ V. ไม่ผัน ไม่เติม ตามโครงสร้าง
            Subject¹ + Subjunctive Verb + (that) + Subject² + (should) + Infinitive
             จึงตอบ (D) postpone ที่เป็น Infinitive ได้เลย

 

2. It is necessary that everyone participating in
   today’s discussion ------- their presentation.

(A) preparing

(B) prepare

(C) prepared

(D) to prepare

เช่นเดียวกับข้อ 1. ข้อนี้ตอบ (B) เพราะโจทย์ข้อนี้ละ should ไว้หลัง subject (everyone)
ซึ่งคำที่ต้องตามหลัง should ต้องเป็น Infinitive หรือ V. ไม่ผัน ไม่เติม ตามโครงสร้าง
It + V. to be + Subjunctive Adj + (that) + Subject + (should) + Infinitive
จึงตอบ (B) prepare ที่เป็น Infinitive ได้เลย

 

3. Some of the accountants ------- that their
   new interns should come to the office early.

(A) investigated

(B) recognized

(C) examined

(D) required

             ตอบ (D) เพราะตรงช่องว่างต้องการ Subjunctive Verb ตามโครงสร้าง
            Subject¹ + Subjunctive Verb + (that) + Subject² + (should) + Infinitive
            ซึ่งคำที่เป็น Subjunctive Verb มีเพียงข้อเดียว คือ (D) required นั่นเอง
